BMW F800GS Adventure unveiled

BMW Motorrad has given the Adventure treatment to its popular F800GS. The parallel twin now has the ability go to even further thanks to a larger 24-litre under-seat fuel tank, an increase of 8 litres over the standard model. In real-world terms this translates to a additional 125km tank range. Powering the F800GS Adventure is the 85hp two-cylinder parallel engine which cranks out a healthy 83Nm of torque.

The F800GS Adventure benefits from having switchable ABS as a standard feature while Automatic Stability Control (ASC) and Electronic Suspension Adjustment (ESA) are available as factory-fitted options. The ASC system allows the rider to adjust the levels of rear wheel slip depending on conditions and rider confidence. The ABS system can also be adjusted according to the rider’s desires, allowing for an even more dynamic riding experience.

Visually the new F800GS Adventure gains more of a muscular look with tougher looking bodywork that reflects the globetrotting potential of the motorcycle. A new bench seat, larger windscreen and hand guards help complete the look. Other new standard specification on the F800GS Adventure includes wide enduro footrests, an adjustable, reinforced foot brake lever, an engine protection bar and a pannier rack which also functions as a tank protection bar.

The new F800GS Adventure will first hit the market in a 1,000-unit “Launch Edition”. The highlight of the F800GS Adventure “Launch Edition” is its Sandrover matt paintwork in combination with three equipment packages. The Comfort package comprises an onboard computer, heated grips and a centre stand. The Enduro package comes with ASC plus Enduro mode, and the Special accessories package features a lockable aluminium case set, a topcase holder and BMW Motorrad Navigator Adventure including holder and cable.
