Say hello to the 700hp Porsche Panamera Turbo S E-Hybrid

Plug-in power makes the latest Porsche Panamera the most powerful in the range.

Porsche is adding to its Panamera offering with more plug-in hybrid versions, including a range-topping 700hp model. The powertrain is made up of a 4.0-litre twin-turbocharged V8 that produces 571hp (with the Sport Chrono package) that combines with a 136hp electric motor to create a total system output of 700hp. That electric motor gets its power from an improved 17.9kWh battery and optimised driving modes.

Porsche will also use that same electrical setup for the Panamera 4 E-Hybrid. This more modes version uses a 2.9-litre twin-turbocharged V6 to generate a total system output of 462hp. It sits just below the already unveiled Panamera 4S E-Hybrid that has a system output of 560hp and brings the total number of Panamera plug-in hybrids to three. In addition to the three powertrains in the saloon and Sport Turismo body style, Porsche is also offering an Executive long-wheelbase version, which is available by special order.

The electric motor is integrated with the eight-speed dual-clutch PDK transmission and can generate 400Nm of torque. That means even when driving in electric mode the Porsche will provide ample performance. Porsche has increased the battery capacity from 14.1kWh to 17.9kWh though improved cells. With a full charge, it can provide enough energy for up to 50 kilometres of driving in the case of the Panamera Turbo S E-Hybrid, while the Panamera 4 E-Hybrid can cover up to 56 kilometres and emits 45g/KM of CO2.

Porsche Panamera rear

Visually, the Panamera Turbo S E-Hybrid gets a dual C-shaped front light setup with larger side air intakes. At the rear, the light bar now runs continuously overs the luggage compartment. Modifications under the skin include upgraded suspension bushes, damper tuning and enhanced engine mounts. As standard, the Panamera Turbo S E-Hybrid includes Porsche Dynamic Chassis Control (PDCC Sport) electric roll stabilisation, Porsche Torque Vectoring Plus (PTV Plus), rear wheel steering with Power Steering Plus and the Porsche Ceramic Composite Brake (PCCB) system.
